Case Study on CFD Simulation Analysis Conducted for US-based Client

Flatworld Conducted Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis for a Water Purifier Manufacturer

The Client Requirement

The Client

The client we served is a US-based provider of water purification products. The client aims to fulfill the potential of ceramic ultrafiltration technology in mainstream and wastewater applications. The company has developed a new, larger area, and more cost-effective ceramic ultrafiltration membrane module called the CM-151*. This module has been designed to solve common membrane operating problems that frequently affect ultrafiltration plant owners and operators. The client’s ceramic membrane product serves both municipal and industrial applications for water treatment, reuse, and drinking water. While the company is headquartered in the US, it also has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Halberstadt, Germany.

The client has on board a team of industry experts with deep domain knowledge and expertise arising from many decades of experience in solving the earth’s most difficult water purification challenges.

Client's Requirement

The client wanted computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to be performed for a new water purification product. They wanted to analyze the fluid property, flow rate, pressure, velocity and density of the fluid, among other parameters.

Client's Challenges

The client wanted the output as an analysis report and wanted to employ 3 dedicated resources for 2 months and a total project cost of $15,000. At our end, understanding the function of the product initially was a challenge, but senior engineers helped to overcome the challenge.

FWS' Solution

Our Solution

We provided three dedicated resources to the client to perform the CFD analysis. Furthermore, we used the Ansys software package for conducting the CFD analysis and delivered the outcomes on time and within budget.

Our Process

We followed the following process to perform the CFD analysis and compile and deliver the final report -

  1. We checked the model integrity for lost data and irregular edges and did the Geometric cleanup
  2. The next step was performing Meshing and sending the report to the client
  3. We then applied loading conditions and analyzed the property of the fluid, the flow rate, and pressure
  4. Test Simulation was done and with the result, a draft report was prepared to make sure all the assumed information was correct, and this was shared with the client
  5. Once we got approval, we ran a full-scale simulation and sent the final detailed report to the client
The Result

Results

The final report was delivered to the client within budget and on time, much to the delight of the client.
